Do you have or are you working towards an accounting qualification (e.g. AAT or CIMA)? Have you got previous experience working within a fast-paced Finance team using ERP systems? As a key member of the Accounts Department, you will have a varied role spanning six areas of the business working closely with your Direct Line Manager and the Financial Controller.

Key Responsibilities of the Assistant Accountant:
- Assist with month end tasks.
- Be the primary owner of the ERP system fixed assets register and Construction in Progress GL account.
- Prepare selected profit and loss ledger accounts analysis and periodically reconcile all balance sheet accounts.
- Prepare and publish monthly standalone and consolidated financial statements.
- Assist with the interpretation of financial results producing supporting schedules, presentations, and other ad hoc analyses.
- Support Financial Controller during the annual budgeting process.
- Prepare functional budget analysis vs. actuals for selected Cost Centres.
- Prepare UK VAT returns, audit transactions to ensure VAT rules are correctly applied.
- Support R&D tax credit claim preparation process.
What you will need to succeed as Assistant Accountant:
- Use of ERP systems.
- An Accounting qualification or working towards (for example AAT or CIMA)
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines in a fast paced environment.
- An eye for detail with good analytical skills and confident communicator.
