Kameo Recruitment is pleased to be partnering with a reputable educational establishment in Cambridge who are seeking to recruit a Sous Chef. In this key role you will be supporting the Head Chef with ensuring a constant high standard of food preparation and service, so experience in a similar role will be necessary.

Duties & Responsibilities of the Sous Chef

  • Leading shifts, supervising staff in the preparation and service of food, consistently achieving high standards
  • Ensuring the kitchen operates economically in terms of staff resource and minimising food production costs, etc.
  • Adhering to standards set by Food Safety and Health & Safety legislation
  • Compile food orders in conjunction with the Head Chef, ensuring adequate rotation of stock
  • Assisting the Head Chef with the planning and development of menus, continually developing signature dishes, and encouraging the use of fresh produce
  • Aim to exceed customer satisfaction
  • Ensure that food service staff are fully briefed on menu content prior to service, and carry out regular checks of serveries, checking for availability, presentation, and cleanliness of food service area
  • Develop training plans with the Head Chef for all members of kitchen staff
  • Provide training for chefs, and help develop staff

Requirements for this role

  • NVQ Level 2 and 3 in Professional Cookery
  • Basic Food Hygiene Certificate
  • Training on HACCP and COSHH
  • Communication and organisational skills
  • Leadership and management skills
  • Experience in a similar role
  • Ability to work well as part of a team, with a flexible approach
