Sales Engineer – Cambridgeshire

Salary: £30,000 – £40,000p.a. plus bonus

Hours of Work: Full time, office based.

Kameo Recruitment is pleased to be recruiting a Sales Engineer to work for a leading provider of connectivity solutions in Cambridgeshire. As a technical sales specialist and product evangelist, you will directly contribute to the increased adoption of High Performance KVM solutions.

Working alongside the EMEA Sales team and business partners you will develop solutions and system designs for customer requirements, deliver product demonstrations that excite customers and breed confidence in IP KVM and create detailed technical responses to informal and formal requests for proposals.


Duties and Responsibilities of the Sales Engineer: 

Solution Design

  • Lead the technical pre-sales efforts for nominated territories.
  • Consult with customers to build a deep understanding of their identified and unidentified needs.
  • Recommend solutions and professional services that will deliver the most value to customers.

Product Demonstrations

  • Deliver personalised product demonstrations.
  • Work alongside sales reps to secure the “technical close” from the customer’s technical staff.
  • Build and maintain demonstration kits for remote demos, workshops, and industry events.

Technical documentation

  • Create visualisations and system diagrams to support solution definition and proposal.
  • Prepare, create, and collate documentation for formal tender responses, working in partnership with sales management, product management and compliance teams.
  • Develop sales enablement tools including visualisations, best practice guides and FAQs.

Training and Education

  • Lead the creation and delivery of educational content for sales teams and channel partners.
  • Contribute to on-going channel education through workshops, events and webinars.
  • Provide demos and technical training on new products and features to the sales team.
  • Support the delivery of Certified Training programs where required.

Knowledge sharing

  • Create a consistent feedback loop between the customer, sales team and product management.
  • Document and present market requirements to senior management.
  • Test competitive products and provide insight/ analysis to support the creation of battle cards.

Key Relationships

  • Partnering with the sales reps will be key. Not only will you work hand-in-hand co-presenting, but you’ll take the lead and even challenge them.
  • Work with Marketing and Product Management to deliver educational content for new products and features. Ensure that the content is high value, impactful and on brand.
  • You’ll be amongst the first to identify feature requests and technology trends. You’ll engage directly with Product Management and Engineering to influence R&D programs.
  • An intimate knowledge of the product; the technical specifications, the user experience, and the benefits they offer to customers.
  • The delivery of competitive, compliant, and on-time responses to informal and formal RFI/RFP/ITT.
  • Product demonstrations that wow customers.
  • Creation of schematics and visualisations using 2D/3D drawing software to explain concepts within the technical proposal including conceptual network architecture.
  • Report back customer progress and keep timely and up to date records in the CRM system. 


Requirements for the Sales Engineer: 

Essential requirements

  • A technical mind with the ability to translate written requirements into solutions.
  • Must be insanely curious and engaging.
  • Confidence to interact with customers, giving great service but also challenging misconceptions.
  • Excellent visual presentation skills.
  • Deep technical knowledge of products and surrounding technologies.


  • Experience with IT and/or AV equipment, primarily system design, install or technical support.
  • Experience with video capture, streaming and editing tools.

Work and Travel

  • There will be a significant amount of travel to customer sites, events, and exhibitions.
