Kameo Recruitment is sourcing for a commercially focused General Manager to join a small and successful business based north of Cambridge. The ideal candidate will have the expertise and determination to manage the day-to-day business operations and drive improvements whilst provide direction and support across the company’s key functions which include scientific/technical sales, marketing, customer support, finance, HR and logistics.

Teamwork is key to the success of this company and therefore my client is looking for a General Manager who understands the importance of leading a highly motivated team that is focussed on driving for results.

Duties & Responsibilities of the General Manager:

  • Be responsible for overall profitability and growth of the company as well as acting as support and an escalation point for all colleagues when required.
  • Provide leadership, mentoring, and support for all colleagues.
  • Liaise with and manage external partners (Finance Director, accountants, HR & IT support)
  • Manage the annual budgeting and forecasting process with regular checks on progress.
  • Provide commercial knowledge and support across the business which includes, customer contracts, negotiations, tender submissions and supplier relationships.
  • Work in close partnership with the Sales Director and manage the operational performance of the Sales team.
  • Gain an understanding of basic technical aspects of the product as well as uses and the markets they are involved in.
  • Work with the finance team to optimise profitability, review management accounts, manage payroll as well as monitor and optimise foreign exchange rate management.
  • Act as an ambassador for the company when attending events.

Requirements for this role of General Manager:

  • Proven experience as a General Manager or similar executive role in a small business.
  • Strong strategic focus and the ability to drive business growth.
  • A strong understanding of sales and marketing processes is essential
  • Outstanding organisational, leadership and communication skills.
  • Sound knowledge of business processes and functions (finance, procurement, operations, etc).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
  • Comfortable with interpreting financial reports.

 

Salary:  Competitive salary and profit-base incentive scheme. Total package Circa £90k
